We all need to pitch in to help those who have lost everything. Here are some ways to help locally.
In Jefferson County. Jennifer Lunsford, working with ABF Trucking, has organized a drop-off point in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Fairfield for items needed by flood victims. These include towels, bedding, non-perishable food, bottled water, reading materials, baby wipes, hand sanitizers, sunscreen, bug spray, personal hygiene items, flashlights and batteries, trash bags, disposable gloves, dust-allergin masks, pillows (new and protected with plastic for shipment), coloring books, crayons, small games.
Barb Hood, who is the Terminal Manager for ABF Trucking (located on West Grimes), says the cube—in ABF colors of green, gold, and white—will remain in the Wal-Mart parking lot till Monday morning, June 23, when it will leave to deliver its cargo. (The cube will be locked by 10 p.m. and opened by 8 a.m. to discourage theft).
In Johnson County: New Pioneer is accepting monetary donations toward flood relief in Johnson County. All donations made through New Pi will be sent to the Red Cross. Make your contributions at the check-out lanes at either New Pioneer location. Thank you for your help!
