Chamber Singers Present “Songs for a Better World”

The Chamber Singers’ spring 2025 concert is May 24-25.

The Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa will present “Songs for a Better World” at their annual spring concert on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Magnolia Sanctuary, 200 South Main Street in Fairfield.

This year’s program explores the universal themes of love, kindness, and praise that nourish our lives, drawing from texts as diverse as St. Thomas Aquinas, Rabindranath Tagore, and Heraclitus, and genres as varied as spirituals, world music, classical, and contemporary. Modern compositions, traditional tunes, and ancient melodies each add their voices and styles to support the creation of a better and more unified world.

A wonderful guest trio, featuring piano, flute, and viola da gamba, will present an instrumental interlude, and the musicians will also accompany some of the songs.

“In these times of upheaval, we want to provide upliftment and solace to our audiences through music—and a reminder of the deep and universal values we all cherish,” says Elaine Reding, director of the Chamber Singers. “We hope these beautiful songs will inspire and enrich everyone who attends our concerts.”

Come join the Chamber Singers on May 24 and 25 for a moving and uplifting musical evening. Tickets are $10 at the door.
