Beach Boys Come to Fairfield

Tickets go on sale Monday, July 27, for the Labor Day Beach Boys concert in Fairfield. It's a benefit concert for the David Lynch Foundation and the Sondheim Center. The outdoor concert starts at 2 p.m., but everyone's invited to come at noon and picnic on the grounds of the Fairfield Middle School, the site chosen to accommodate the large crowds expected. Food and drink will be available for purchase, and an opening band (still to be announced) will kick off the festivities.

Tickets for the 600 seats in front are $37.50 in advance, or $40.50 at the gate. You can also park yourself on the lawn for $22 in advance or $25 at the door. Student pays $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Children under 6 will be admitted free.

Michael Sternfeld of the David Lynch Foundation, who heard the Beach Boys recently in Illinois, says, "They better than ever!" Today the Beach Boys are the two original members – Mike Love and Bruce Johnston – and a new band that's "totally awesome."

Read more about Mike Love and the band in this month's issue, or go to James Moore's article, "Surfin' USA."

We'll also be printing an interview with Mike Love in the September issue, out Thursday, Sept. 3.
