Welcome Spring at Singing Cedars’ Mayfaire on May 11

You don’t need to have kids in the Waldorf school to celebrate Mayfaire at Singing Cedars on May 11.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 11, to celebrate spring at the Singing Cedars annual Mayfaire, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. With live music, traditional dances, games, homemade food, and prizes, we symbolically bid farewell to King Winter and welcome Lady Spring.

As we witness the surging blossoms on the trees and the cloaking of earth in all shades of green, may our merriment help to make more good things grow!

Don’t miss the procession of the May Queen, the Garland Girls, the Morris Dancers, and the children’s Maypole. There will be two showings of a spring-themed puppet show and many chances to win a beautiful homemade cake in the cake walks.

Throughout the day, enjoy homemade salads, burgers (both vegetarian and meat), kraut, cookies, and beverages. Gentle Icelandic ponies will be ready to ride, fulfilling every child’s equine dreams. Young and old alike may don willow crowns and behold the offerings of the faire.

Garland Girls add to the day’s merriment.

There will be youth archery, three-legged races, face painting, rope making, hair braiding, and crafts. Gifts from local artisans, vendors, and craftspeople will be available for purchase, with special items for bid at the famous silent auction. This year marks Singing Cedars’ 3rd Annual Raffle, and the winners will be drawn after the May Procession. If you miss the chance to buy tickets in advance, you can purchase them upon admission, and enter to win a Mexico vacation.

Amidst all these goods and opportunities, you may chance to find a token of love and appreciation for Mother’s Day—a hand-dyed silk scarf, a gift certificate to her favorite cafe, or perhaps a discounted massage. We hope to see you out at Singing Cedars, to once again mark the reawakening of the earth from winter slumber, and to have a good time.

Singing Cedars is located at 2149 N. B Street in Fairfield. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family.
