In conjunction with the release of Heather Gudenkauf’s 10th novel, Everyone is Watching, Swamp Fox Bookstore is sponsoring a conversation with the New York Times bestselling author on Tuesday, March 26, 6 p.m. at the Marion Public Library, 1101 6th Avenue. Gudenkauf, a Cedar Rapids resident who grew up in Iowa, will be featured in conversation with Laura McHugh, the bestselling, award-winning author of several novels that explore the dark side of the Midwest.

“This should be an incredible event,” says Terri LeBlanc, co-owner of Swamp Fox Bookstore with Amanda Zhorne. “It’s a unique opportunity to hear Heather in conversation with a like-minded writer on the day her new novel will be released. This will be a treat for thriller enthusiasts and book lovers who want to know more about Gudenkauf and her exciting novels.”

The event is free and open to the public, and a limited quantity of Everyone is Watching will be available for purchase and signing on the day of the event. Swamp Fox Bookstore will donate 10 percent of on-site sales to the library.

Gudenkauf is the Edgar Award-nominated, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of nine novels based in Iowa. Her 2009 debut novel, The Weight of Silence, was an instant NYT bestseller and remained on the list for 22 weeks. Gudenkauf’s critically acclaimed novels have been published in over 20 countries and have been included in many Best Of lists, including “Seven Thrillers to Read This Summer” by the New York Times, “The 10 Best Thrillers and Mysteries of 2017” by The Washington Post, Amazon Best Book of 2022, and GoodReads Most Anticipated Mysteries of 2022.

Laura McHugh is the award-winning author of novels The Weight of Blood, Arrowood, The Wolf Wants In, What’s Done in Darkness, and Safe and Sound, coming this April. The Weight of Blood won the International Thriller Writers Award and the Silver Falchion Award for Best First Novel. McHugh claims Iowa as her home state and resides in Missouri.
