Fairfield Area Community Theatre (FACT) proudly presents Too Old For The Chorus But Not Too Old To Be A Star June 12, 13, and 14 on stage at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center at 200 North Main Street in Fairfield.

Directed by Diana Flynn, with musical direction by Jim & LeAnne Edgeton, Too Old For The Chorus is a witty musical revue about the trials and joys of hitting 50 (and 60, and 70 … ) in a youth-obsessed society. The book, music, and lyrics are by Marie Cain, Mark Winkler, and Shelly Markham.

This upbeat, 75-minute show follows a handful of customers at a retro coffee shop—who are all doing their darnedest to navigate the challenges of menopause, modern technology, and relationships that are turning sideways.

“This humorous but heartfelt musical review will especially resonate with Baby Boomers and Gen X as they face—or remember—the latter stages of life, along with all the frustrations and fulfillment of those years,” says FACT board and cast member Dee Ann Lantz. “We’re talking about career obsolescence, annoying physical changes, suddenly caring for elderly parents, and that ‘invisible’ feeling of reaching age 50.”

The fabulous cast—from Jefferson County and beyond—includes Amber Burroughs, Tommy Brower, Dee Ann Lantz, Andrew MacKenzie, Jason Deprey, Nathaniel Adkins, and Marylou LaRose.

Please note: the show runs for three performances only: Friday, June 12, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, June 13, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, June 14, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20, general seating, and are available at the FACC ticket office.

“It is my pleasure to direct this musical with my friends LeAnne and Jim Edgeton,” says FACT Board President Diana Flynn. “The cast is working very hard, and I’m sure by opening tonight we will have it all together—but need I remind you, most of us are over 50, and this is a comedy! It’s only fitting that while one of the songs says, ‘Age is just a number,’ another one says, ‘I’m having a ‘Memory Moment!’

“Come out and support your community theater, have a good laugh, and leave the show humming the songs!” says Flynn. “It’s really fun to see your neighbors singing and dancing. And, in the spirit of the coffee-shop theme within our play … May the Froth be with you!”
