On a Regal Perch: Bald Eagle

Driving through Amish country, near Kalona, Iowa, I see bald eagles sailing straight-winged in the sky. One perches in a dead tree above a farmhouse, studying the snowless, sodden fields. On closer look, I can see that the eagle’s yellow talons are caked with mud, the residue of a meal taken somewhere in one of those fields. (Photo ©2012 Diane Porter)
