The Fairfield Art Association announces two printmaking classes taking place in June 2026.

The first class is an opportunity to learn Linoleum Woodblock Printmaking with accomplished Fairfield artist John Schirmer. Schirmer has been a printmaker for 40 years and has received numerous awards across the country.

His four class sessions will be held on Saturdays, June 6–27, from 10 a.m.–noon in the FAA Studio at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. John will lecture and demonstrate, and adult students—beginners to more experienced printers—will work on their own print. A class fee of $100 includes all materials.

The FAA is also offering a relaxed creative Printmaking Workshop for Beginners with artist Anna Maistri. This three-class series is a hands-on introduction to relief printing. Classes will be held from 6–8 p.m. on Thursdays, June 11, 18, and 25 in the FAA Studio.

The first session will introduce the basics, and students will carve and print a stamp on paper. In the next session, participants will learn to make finer lines and intricate designs to create a set of custom postcards. The final class will involve the creation of repeating patterns to be printed on a one-of-a-kind cotton tote bag.

All materials are provided and the workshop fee is $75. Designed for ages 14 and up, this class could be a fun learning experience for a parent and a teen.
