The Heartland Authors and Poets Society will present the Second Annual Southeast Iowa Book Fair on Friday and Saturday, August 14–15, at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center (FACC), 200 N. Main St., in Fairfield.
This year, the fair moves into FACC’s larger expo space, giving organizers room for two new features: a Children’s Book Reading Corner and a Listen-to-the-Author reading stage.
“Last year we felt rather cramped, so this year we’ll be in the much bigger space,” says organizer Tim Pelton. “We’re building a pavilion-style reading tent for the kids, with throw pillows for them to sit on while authors read their works aloud and show the illustrations. We’ll have about ten children’s book authors, so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The fair will feature brand-new, original books in a range of genres, in-cluding science fiction, memoir, spirituality, politics, comedy, and non-fiction. Authors from all over the region will be on hand throughout the weekend to discuss their work and sign books. Stop by, meet local authors, and find your next great read.
Southeast Iowa Book Fair hours are Friday 6–9 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m. For more information, email heartlandauthorsandpoets@gmail.com.
