Every August, cyclists return to the rolling hills of Van Buren County to reconnect with quiet country roads, genuine hospitality, and friendly communities that welcome visitors with open arms. Regular riders remember the homemade treats at hospitality stops, conversations with new friends, supportive volunteers, and the satisfaction of reaching the top of one more hill. On August 15-16, 2026, the Villages of Van Buren County invite riders to celebrate the 40th Annual Bike Van Buren, honoring four decades of Miles of Memories.
“Every rider’s journey is a little different,” says Emily Starnes, Executive Director of the Villages of Van Buren. “Some come to challenge themselves on the hills and try longer routes. Others slow down to photograph scenic river views, discover this year’s art bales and scarecrows, explore Historic Villages, reconnect with old friends, or simply enjoy a slower pace for the weekend.”
Riders will enjoy clearly marked routes, welcoming hospitality stops, complimentary refreshments, SAG support, and a vast array of scenic views.

As communities across the nation commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Bike Van Buren celebrates something that has always been part of the American story: gathering together, exploring the open road, and welcoming neighbors.
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, before the first pedal is turned, the Keosauqua Lions Club serves an all-you-can-eat pancake & sausage breakfast under the big tent in Keosauqua City Park. It’s an opportunity to support the Keosauqua Lions Club, whose fundraising efforts help give back to the very communities riders will discover throughout the weekend.

“Whether you’ve ridden Bike Van Buren for decades or you’re considering your very first ride,” says Emily, “there’s never been a better time to experience why so many cyclists call Bike Van Buren their favorite weekend of the season.”
Walk-up registration is available both Saturday and Sunday mornings at Keosauqua City Park. Visit villagesofvanburen.com to learn more about the event and start planning your Miles of Memories in the Villages of Van Buren County.
